news??? or not

So I emailed my agency today to get an update. No new news. No new nothing! We are now officially #9 on the waiting list. At least we are in the single digits. We are hoping to hear something in the next few weeks. Our agency did say if we were not in the next batch of referrals we will not get on before the cut off date of September 1st. So our only hope would be if Vietnam extended the cut off date. There is a chance that it might happen but I would much rather have our match before then. So keep your fingers crossed!

All work and no play.....

Makes Jess a cranky girl!! I have been so busy for the last few weeks but this past weekend i got a break. T and I went home to my parents house for the weekend. Tracy was invited by my dad to play in the 3-day member-guest tournament at their country club. Tracy had a great time and while he was golfing i got to spend some time with my friend Wiz (her name is really Liz but when my brother was little he couldn't say his L's so he called her Wiz and it kind-of stuck). It was so nice to get away for a few days. But all good things come to an end. Today we found out that another one of our bank owned listings had all the copper stolen out of it and all the windows smashed. So tomorrow i will be calling the Police department again so i can get a police report so the bank can file a claim with their insurance company. This will be the third time in about 2 weeks that i have had to call the police. For any of you looking to get into the real estate business run don't walk but run away. OK i cant complain i kind of like calling the police. It's like being on Cops! and some of them are really cute. Don't tell my husband i said that.

What a day

Today was one of those days where you wake up and think "maybe I should go back to bed" but in the end I just get up because the dog has to go out. As I look back on my day...i should have stayed in bed! I was about to leave the house and Tracy called to say that we had to go to one of our foreclosure listings (we work for a few major lending institutions selling their forclosed properties) to meet the sherif so we could evict the former owners. Turns out that the former owners are mostly moved out of their house so no drama there but they left behind a cat who looked like it had not been fed in several days. Tracy wanted to leave her there but I insisted that we take her to a shelter. We had to drive about 20 minutes out of the way to drop off the cat. If it had been any longer we would have become a 2 car household instead of a 1 cat house. She was the sweetest cat I have ever seen. The whole time in the car she sat in my lap. After we got back to the office Tracy said we had to go to another foreclosed property to take pictures of it and get it ready to post online for sale. When Tracy opened the door he saw a man trying to run out the back. We both flew off the porch and ran to the car. Tracy didn't even have a chance to get the key out of the door. Since we cant leave a property without securing it we had to go back and at least lock the front door, scary man inside or not. As he was trying to get the key out of the door the man told Tracy that he was just taking a nap and not to call the police on him .Of course I was already on the phone with the Worcester PD. The man left and we went inside. The house could have been nice...had all the copper still been in it! So we had to wait around for the police to come so they could fill out a report for the stolen copper. Like I said I should have stayed in bed!

Embassy!!

Tracy called our agency for an update on our dossier and we were pleasantly surprised to hear that it is at the Embassy already! It is going to be translated and then we will be DTV (dossier to Vietnam)!!!!!! Once it is in Vietnam it will be logged in and we will be officially logged in and waiting for a referral! We also got an update on our place in line and i am sad to report that we are only #10. 8 or 9 sounded so much better but i guess 10 isn't so bad. It is still looking good and we should know for sure if we are getting a referral or not in early August. August sounds so far away but when you think about it it's really only less then 3 months! Does anyone else know what is in August?? Our anniversary! Tracy and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary. So August could be a good month for us. We have been so busy with the work and running the office so August will be here before we know it.

Decisions Decisions

We talked to our agency today and got some great news. Last week they got 12 (I think) referrals! We are now #8 or 9 on the girls list! So we are moving forward with Vietnam as planned. Our agency said it is looking good for us to get a referral by the cut off date (September 1st). There is still a chance that we might not get a referral by the cut off but it is looking good. So today I took our dossier (all the paperwork we need for the adoption) to Fedex to mail it to our agency. You would think taking a package to Fedex would be easy...well you would be wrong. To make a long story short, for some reason the zip code that i had (I do have the right zip code I checked 500 times) wasn't matching up with the town. So i had to put my package in the drop box. The fedex guy assured me that all would be good but i just tried the tracking number and still nothing! Tracy keeps telling me it will get there but if they still have not tracked it how is it going to get there by tomorrow morning! Deep breath. I'm #8 or 9 so everything is good today.

Closed???

So we got back from our vacation late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning I turn on my computer to find this. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080428/ap_on_re_as/vietnam_us_adoption

We immediately, after I stopped sobbing, called our agency. They are trying to figure out how many children they are going to be able to refer out before the Sept. 1st deadline. We should know more in a few days. So again all I can do is wait. Wait for something I have NO control over. The only thing I can do is try to keep busy at work. Try to keep my mind off of it. So if anyone has an extra bottle of wine lying around I might need it!
